Here are some Power Point Presentations I have put together explaining Packet Radio
and Differance between Nodes and Repeaters.
Hello,
My name is Peter Tryon. A became an Amature Radio operator in 1974 and my Advanced in 1978. My first call was VE7DED, I moved to Alberta in 1986 and change my call to VE6DED. After my career as a Paramedic we moved back to B.C. and came back to Qualicum Beach. My new call is VA7PWT. I have always loved the digital aspect of Ham Radio. I have done most digital modes but always came back to Packet Radio. My interest is sending Email style of Packet Mail easier and faster than the old ways from the 70’s. I love writing programs and decided to write my Packet Mail Program. I am a strong believer in not using the Internet as Ham Radio to me is using the airwaves and not wires. All the programs are designed strictly for use over the air.
The Mid Island Amateur Radio Association has a special interest group that Peter (VA7PWT) leads called ‘The Packeteers’, which meets online weekly to trouble shoot technical issues and to exercise our operating skills by sending messages. Interested in 'The Packeteers'? Consider contacting Peter (VA7PWT) at ptryon2@gmail.com and he will give you the meeting link.
The Mid-Island Radio Association (MIRA), located in the mid island area of Vancouver Island, BC Canada, is a group made up of 40+ volunteer ham radio operators who enjoy communicating via radio waves and spending time together. By combining their technical skills with community service and social networking they have a lot of fun undertaking stimulating and challenging activities.
